About Safety Articles

Injuries cause pain, cost money, and affect many people. When an injury occurs, everyone’s main concern, of course, is the personal suffering. If you’re injured, your family suffers along side you. And whether you're self-employed or work for a large company, you must consider the financial costs of the injury.

If you’re injured, who pays for your medical treatment, hospitalization, home care, rehabilitation, insurance, loss of productivity and your replacement at work? Maybe you're self-employed and without adequate disability insurance, maybe your place of employment doesn’t cover you for permanent disability. If that’s the case, you may be in big trouble. Many people have lost their homes and entire life savings because they were injured in a seemingly minor accident, such as a slip down a couple of stairs.

Although people often practice good safety habits on the job, they tend to ignore these practices once they reach home. In order for safety to pay, it has to be a twenty-four hour concern.

A multitude of injuries occur every day . The good news is that most injuries can be prevented. Recognizing this, some time ago I started to compile information on preventing injuries. Many of these articles are taken from my book “I Won’t be in to Work Today - Preventing Injuries at Home, Work and Play” These articles will address the most common cause of injuries and their prevention.. I will also include articles on medical emergencies because early recognition of a medical emergency, and the response to it, can greatly affect the outcome.

The information is here to reinforce the safety knowledge you have and to offer additional guidance. Many of the examples are actual emergency calls that I have attended. Injuries happen all the time. They can happen to people just like you or me. But, we must remember, injuries don’t have to happen.

Stay Well
